I partnered with Union Finance to design their governance platform that complements their trust-based lending and borrowing dapp. During this second sprint with the Union team, I focused on creating an intuitive interface for onchain decision-making, building on the success of the initial MVP.
Goal
Union Finance aimed to enhance community involvement by creating a new governance platform. My mission was to help Union enable their peer-to-peer lending participants to vote on proposals, ensuring transparency and trust within their ecosystem.
Challenge
The main challenge was designing a governance interface that was accessible to all users, despite the complexity of onchain voting. I needed to balance familiarity with traditional voting systems while avoiding the confusion that web3 offered to less experienced users.
Solution
In this second sprint, I collaborated closely with Union Finance to craft a user-friendly governance platform. Key features include:
Among many things, I discovered that:
Users didn’t understand concepts like default rate and interest rate
Users were confused on what the Quorum meant
When creating a proposal users didn’t understand the difference between “Onchain” and “Offchain” proposals
I solved these by:
Introducing tooltips next to each concept, making it clear to the user what it meant
Explaining that through an informative visual concept
Creating a clear distinction between the two options and clearly stating the benefits of choosing either option
After working together, Union Finance managed to:
Offered the team a better understanding on on how users were reacting to their new governance idea
Offered a clean and powerful design that solved their pain points
Delighted users through a strong UI
Gave the team a sense of ownership in the final outcome as a result of team effort
Earned users' loyalty by listening and implementing direct feedback
Created a base for expanding the product through a solid design system
